Welcome to mattmajewski.net's Road and Highway Department. Growing up, I've always had an interest in roads, signs, and highways. I've always wondered a few things about the highways, but my main question here is where do these highways meet each other? I want to cover the places where these highways intersect and/or split. Some may double up as endpoints, though. Hopefully, I can compile a large database of where these highways cross. This site's focus will be only on the single or double digit main routes, but Route 101 will be an exception due to its prominent placement. I am hoping to get pictures from as many of these intersections as possible, regardless of how well signed each intersection is. If a junction has no route signs, but is a part of the US route system, it will still be included. As of August 13, 2011, I've only photographed intesections in Chicagoland.
For now though, I'm just getting started. Let's see how far we can go with this. If you would like to contribute photos and/or information to this project, that would be welcome. You can send it to MM33077, which is a comcast.net address. (I'm sorry; I'm trying to avoid automated spammers.) If you have something for me, thank you.
Below are US route shields that serve as links to each route's home page. I am still in the process of setting up the links. If the image inverts, is it a link. From there, each main page will have a list of the routes it crosses and where they cross. If the intersection has been photographed, a link will appear on that page. I'm still getting the data sheets together, though, so only the data sheets for routes 1-72 have been completed, at least for two digit routes. It may take some time still.
